The SNAP Transportation Program is available to meet your changing needs to travel safely around eastern and southern Queens.
- We are currently offering transportation in Eastern Queens on Tuesdays between 8:30am – 1:00pm for Food shopping at Shop Rite in New Hyde Park. You can bring your own bags as well as a shopping cart.
- Medicals are Monday thru Friday 8:30am-1:00pm.
- For SNAP Brookville, transportation is offered Monday thru Friday from 10:30am to 2:00pm for both shopping trips and medical appointments.
SNAP’s Transportation AIDE Service:
SNAP will have an aide available to accompany you on your van trips to medical appointments or wherever independent travel is difficult for you. If you need assistance because of limitations of vision, difficulty walking unassisted, or other concerns, please speak with Mike to arrange for an aide when you use the SNAP van.
Who is eligible?
- Adults age 60 and over in Community Boards 8, 11 and 13.

is there a cost for this Service?

Transportation services are funded under contract with the NYC Department for the Aging. There is no cost to receive transportation services through this program. However, there is a suggested voluntary contribution that varies depending on the nature of the trip requested. SNAP is grateful for any contributions provided but no one is refused services due to the inability to pay.
Suggested Contribution for Medical Roundtrip is $10.
Suggested Contribution for Food shopping Roundtrip is $6.
