Meals on Wheels

SNAP Delivers Meals-On-Wheels in the Queens Community Board 13

Do you notice a loved one, friend or neighbor who is having difficulty preparing a nutritious meal or having difficulty shopping for themselves?  Perhaps you are getting older and want to remain independent in your own home or apartment?

MOW Program Mission

To provide hot, nutritious meals for seniors, to help keep them independent at home. SNAP is a social service agency dedicated to improving and enhancing the quality of life for older adults in Queens.  SNAP strives to maintain older adults as viable community residents and to assist them in aging with dignity and independence thereby preventing premature institutionalization.

Our Meals

All meals are prepared fresh each day, in our own kitchen, under the nutritional guidelines set forth by the New York City Department for the Aging. The meals are delivered in specially equipped Hot Shot vehicles that contain ovens to maintain the temperature of the heated food and refrigerators that keep the cold food cool in even the hottest weather. Meals are also available for Saturdays and Sundays. Meals come in convenient compartment trays sealed in plastic. They can be heated easily in a microwave.

Who is Eligible

  • Adults age 60 and over
  • Adults who are no longer able to participate or attend a senior center on a regular basis
