Meals on Wheels
SNAP delivers 2,700 Meals-on-Wheels a month in Community Board 13
Do you notice a loved one, friend or neighbor who is having difficulty preparing a nutritious meal or having difficulty shopping for themselves?
Perhaps you are getting older and want to remain independent in your own home or apartment?
All meals are prepared fresh each day, in our own kitchen, under the nutritional guidelines set forth by the New York City Department for the Aging. The meals are delivered in specially equipped Hot Shot vehicles that contain ovens to maintain the temperature of the heated food and refrigerators that keep the cold food cool in even the hottest weather. Meals are also available for Saturdays and Sundays. Meals come in convenient compartment trays sealed in plastic. They can be heated easily in either a microwave, toaster oven or conventional oven.
If you live in the Eastern Queens area and would like further information about how to receive meals, please contact: SNAP’s Safe at Home Case Management Program at (718) 454-2385.
